Plaintiffs in Concepcion, et al. v. Deanco Healthcare d/b/a Mission Community Hospital (Case No. 23STCV29292) alleged that Deanco Healthcare failed to adequately protect patient information from a data breach that allegedly occurred on May 1, 2023, which may have compromised sensitive personal information including Social Security numbers, financial account information, and health insurance data. Deanco Healthcare has not admitted any wrongdoing but has agreed to a $1,546,409.42 class action settlement to resolve these allegations. Eligible class members may receive one or more of the following benefits: (1) up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses that can be reasonably attributed to the alleged data breach, such as unreimbursed bank fees, credit monitoring costs, or lost time; (2) an estimated pro rata cash payment based on the remaining settlement fund after other costs and payments are deducted — the actual amount will depend on the total number of valid claims filed; (3) an additional $100 statutory payment for eligible California residents; and (4) two years of medical monitoring services, including credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, and dark web monitoring, at no cost. Individual payout amounts are not guaranteed and will vary based on the type of claim submitted and the number of valid claims received.
